How to use charcoal diaper pail sachets
Short answer: Put one Green Piece charcoal sachet in a dry spot near the top of the diaper pail, attach it with the included tape or your pail’s slot, leave it sealed, and replace it when odor returns, following your pack’s directions.
Step by step
- Open one sachet pack. Take out one sachet and keep the rest sealed until you need them.
- Pick a dry spot near the top. Under the lid or on the upper inside wall works well, above the bag and away from wet diapers.
- Attach it. Use one of the double-sided tapes where your pack includes them, or set the sachet in your pail’s deodorizer slot if it has one.
- Leave it in place. Do not open the sachet. The charcoal absorbs odor through the sachet material.
- Replace it when odor returns. Follow your pack’s directions, and replace the sachet when odor comes back, because the charcoal fills up over time (EPA, “Facts About Activated Carbon Treatment”).

Other places to use spare sachets
Green Piece lists shoe cabinets, closets, refrigerators, trash cans, gym bags, and pet areas as other uses. Larger packs like the 24 Pack and 36 Pack give you spares for those spots.
Handling tips
- Keep sachets out of reach of children and pets, who may chew packaging.
- Keep them dry.
- Store unopened packs in a cool, dry place.
Common questions
How many sachets should I use?
Start with one per pail. If your pail is large or the room is warm, check the label and listing for your pack.
Can I reuse a sachet?
We don’t make a claim about reusing sachets. Replace it when it stops controlling odor.
